Why saline?

Many underestimate the value of using saline on piercings to help it heal. Why is it recommended? What is it good for? Is it safe?

Saline is a solution of 0.9% NaCl (9 grams of salt per liter) in water, so that the value of the solution obtained corresponds to that of the body fluids. This solution is usually used for cleaning/rinsing open wounds in the hospital.

A saline solution is safe if it is also sterile when administering it in or to the body.

For fresh / irritated piercings you can take care of the piercing with the jewelery with physiological saline once or twice a day (not removing jewelry). You can do this once or twice a day (Note that sea salt does not work for everyone, every body responds differently). In all cases, whatever you use to care for your piercing, make sure you do not clean too much. This can slow down the healing and irritate the piercing.

NB: For people with high blood pressure it's recommended to consult the GP about using saline to prevent problems.

Neilmed spray is a super convenient way to take care of your piercing when you are on the move or in a hurry.
Spray the solution at a distance of 10 cm from the skin and rinse well under the tap. Dab it dry with kitchen paper and do not use cotton swabs on your piercing because these hairs can leave behind which are detrimental to the healing of your piercing.

Sterile saline (NaCl-0.9%), drug-free and without preservative, no burning or irritating, portable, convenient for traveling or traveling. Use only as directed. If the symptoms persist, consult your doctor / health care professional. Always read the label.
